- 1985 Shrewsbury
Shopper’s Crèche and Play structure.
Peter & Sue Cunningham (Managing Directors of Premier
Crèche Services Ltd) at that time parents of young children,
realised that shopping can be both time consuming & stressful.
With their background in child care & seeing a business
opportunity, Peter & Sue opened their first crèche to provide
care free shopping for parents. This won acclaim from both
press & TV for the initiative idea.
1987 The Metro Centre Gateshead
Designed and built the first large soft play structure for
the centre. Refurbished in 1993 with a sponsorship from
Typhoo. The crèche contributed to the shopping centre gaining
the TOMMY AWARD for the friendliest shopping centre.
1990 Bon Accord Shopping Centre Aberdeen
This has a soft ball pool play structure designed around
the centres logo.
1990 Allied Leisure Megabowls
Gained a multi-national contract to fit out play areas to
create the concept of children’s mini bowls.
1991 Social Services
Premier Crèche Services were invited to become part of the
working party to adapt guidelines from the 1989 Children Act
for Crèches in Shropshire.
1992 Telford Town Centre
This crèche is housed in a custom built building adjacent
to the entrance of the Shopping Centre.
1992 Meadowhall Shopping Centre Sheffield
This is one of the largest and most prestigious permanent
shopping centre crèches in the country. It can accommodate 49
children. The shopping centre gained the TOMMY AWARD in 1994
for the most family friendly shopping centre.
1993 Calley’s Crèche Callendar Square Shopping Centre,
Falkirk
The crèche is also used for birthday parties and proves to
be very popular with shoppers.
1995 Central Milton Keynes Crèche
Throughout 1995/96 we were involved in the setting up of
the largest temporary crèche in the country. Disney
Corporation sponsored it and it was registered for 120
children at any one time, it was very successful. We opened in
a permanent location in 1999.
1996 Centro Germany
We opened an 88 place crèche in the largest shopping,
leisure and Business Park in Germany.
1996 Thurrock Ikea East London
A 40 place Småland crèche for children aged 3 to 10 years.
1997 Brent Park Ikea
A 32 place Ballroom for children aged 3 to 7 years.
1997 Great Western Designer Village, Swindon
Toy Box Junction Crèche is highly themed to compliment the
shopping centre. This Crèche also offers a party room for
hire, a twins club and a stay and play facility.
1997 Nottingham Ikea
A 20 place Ballroom for children aged 3 to 7 years,
transformed into a 40 place Småland in May 2004.
1998 Cribbs Shopping Centre Bristol
Time Zone Kidz Crèche incorporates a Crèche, stay and play
and party room available for hire.
1998 Wednesbury Ikea Birmingham
A 20 place Ballroom for children aged 3 to 7 years.
1998 Trafford Centre Manchester
A crèche and play area within the centre again having
party rooms to hire, which proved to be very popular. The
crèche was relocated in February 2004 to offer a 125 place
play area and 35 place crèche.
1998 The Gyle Centre Edinburgh
A 30 place crèche within the centre offering parties every
evening within the crèche.
1999 Bristol Ikea
A Ballroom for children aged 3 to 7 years. Transformed
into a Småland in 2003 for 40 children aged 3-10 years.
1999 Edinburgh Ikea
A Ballroom for 20 children aged 3 to 7 years.
2001 Glasgow Ikea
Opened the first Småland in the UK for 36 children aged
3-10 years.
2001 Kringland Shopping Centre Reykjavik, Iceland
Opened the first Crèche and Play Area within a Shopping
Centre in Iceland.
2003 Centre of Excellence Sheffield
A 20 place crèche attached to The Source Training Centre
for children aged 12 weeks -10 years.
2003 Cardiff Ikea
A 40 place Småland for children aged 3-10 years. This is
the first Ikea store to be opened in Wales.
2004 Thurrock Council
A 24 place crèche for the council to accommodate children
aged 12 weeks to 8 years. Run on the basis of a crèche
catering for councillors on training and attending meetings.
2004 The Fort Glasgow
This is a 20 place crèche & 24 place play area based
within Glasgow Fort shopping complex.
2005 Edmonton Ikea
A 40 place Småland crèche in February 2005 for children
aged 3-10 years.
2005 Milton Keynes - Ikea
A 30 place Småland crèche in December 2005 for children
aged 3-10 years.
2006 Ashton Under Lyne Ikea
A 30 place Småland crèche in October 2006 for children aged 3-10 years.
2006 Warrington Ikea
A 40 place crèche in November 2006 for children aged 3-10 years.
2007 Belfast (Ireland) Ikea
A 30 place Smaland crèche in December 2007 for children aged 3-10 years.
2008 Leeds Ikea
A 30 place Crèche for children aged 3 to 10
2009 Southampton Ikea
A 40 place Småland Crèche for children aged 3 to 8.
2009 Dublin Ikea
Opened in July, includes 40 place Småland Crèche for children aged 3 to 10 years.
